e.construct's Work with UHPC
e.construct has designed, tested and built UHPC facades for multiple local projects. The material is popular in thin facade structures that require strength and durability that cannot be achieved by other conventional materials. Our scope has included mix design, structural analysis, performance testing, fabrication, installation and site management.
- Thin sections
- More durable than GRC
- Increased tensile strength
Al Manara Villa Facade
The slim and long C-shaped louvres envisioned for the facade were not achievable using regular concrete, UHPC was hence used to create the final finish.

3 Jumeriah Villa Facade
Thin rectangular sections intersecting to create the facades grid pattern were cast out of UHPC as a durable and economic solution.

e.construct USA
Dr Maher Tadros, managing partner at e.construct USA and Professor Emeritus of the University of Nebraska is currently leading a UHPC research program for the Precast Concrete Institute. In a joint venture with WJE, UNL and NCSU Constructed Facilities Laboratory, e.construct USA has been developing guidelines for designing and producing UHPC for structural applications.
PCI PROGRAM
Phase one, the first of three during the 5-year program, consisted of a detailed review of existing literature and a collaboration with five pre-casters to implement UHPC production at their plants.
UHPC mixes were developed for the precasters who then, using their existing batching equipment, produced and tested the samples.
This work has led to developing the first drafts of “Guidelines for Production of Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC)”, “UHPC Materials Guide Specification” as well as preliminary design examples.
The next two phases will build on the design concepts that were developed, focusing on testing the structural components designed in Phase one and the technology transfer as it moves on to demonstration projects.
DURA
e.construct is partnered with DURA® (UHPC Tech. specialist) who will be providing their 12 years of experience in UHPC mix advisory.
